Puller power. Tensioner control. One goal: getting the job done.

PTR’s rent-ready Cable Pullers and Line Tensioners are built to dominate tough terrains, giving crews the power and control they need to keep projects moving. Whether you’re pulling heavy cable through underground conduit or tensioning lines for overheard installs, these trailers are made for precision. Utility contractors use these units when exacting tension control isn’t optional — it’s critical.

Controlled pulling power

“Feather touch” hydraulic systems deliver precision from inching to full power, while breakaway reel systems ensure safe handling by preventing cable damage and maintaining line integrity.

Project versatility

Dual-function capabilities allow for pulling cable both overhead or underground work depending on the task at hand.

Front and rear controls

Adjust engine speed and power output from both the front and rear of the trailer without returning to the engine compartment.

Frequently Asked Questions

The primary difference is pulling capacity and power. The HP6500 "Boss Hog" delivers significantly higher line pull (40,000 lbs. vs. 24,000 lbs.) with a more powerful engine. The Hydra 985 provides substantial pulling force with a smaller engine. Both feature similar control systems, but the HP6500 is designed for longer cable runs and larger cable projects.
