POSITION SUMMARY
The Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Developer is responsible for leading the design, development, and optimization of enterprise BI solutions that enable strategic, data-driven decision making. This role emphasizes translating complex business needs into scalable data models, robust visualizations, and insightful reporting products while ensuring performance, governance, and long-term sustainability. The Senior BI Developer will partner closely with business stakeholders, BI Analysts, Data Engineers, and Architects to drive BI strategy, ensure high-quality data access, and deliver advanced analytics solutions across the organization. This position requires deep technical expertise in BI tools, SQL, cloud data platforms, and best practices in BI architecture, along with leadership in guiding teams, enforcing governance, and fostering modern BI adoption.
LOCATION
Remote (5% travel as needed)
Strong collaboration across Central and Eastern Time Zones.
COMPENSATION
This position offers a competitive compensation package, benchmarked to regional market standards. It consists of a base salary plus the opportunity for quarterly profit sharing after one year of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop, and optimize advanced dashboards and data visualizations in a modern, cloud-based data warehouse environment (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, BigQuery).
- Lead BI modernization initiatives, focusing on deploying new platforms, tools, and architecture in alignment with strategic modernization roadmaps.
- Architect scalable data models and semantic layers to support interactive reporting, self-service analytics, and best practices from modern BI technologies.
- Collaborate with Data Engineers and Architects to implement efficient, automated cloud data pipelines for both real-time and batch analytics.
- Establish, document, and enforce BI development standards, visualization best practices, and governance frameworks fit for modern BI ecosystems.
- Partner with business stakeholders and BI Analysts to gather, prioritize, and translate requirements into innovative technical dashboard solutions.\
- Drive adoption of emerging BI technologies such as AI-powered analytics, embedded dashboards, and APIs, continually advancing modernization efforts.
- Mentor and coach peers on new BI tools, methodologies, and scalable innovation within the modernization program.
- Continuously monitor, tune, and enhance dashboard and reporting performance to ensure high reliability and outstanding user satisfaction in the modern BI environment.
- Pursue continuous learning on BI industry trends, visualization capabilities, and advanced analytics features to inform and accelerate the organization’s modernization journey.
- Maintain modern production BI environment, ensuring reliable updates, issue resolution, and alignment with business requirements.
- Define, manage, and continuously improve BI solutions across functional domains such as Finance, HR, IT, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Remarketing, and Fleet.
- Establish and enforce data governance and data quality frameworks to ensure accuracy, integrity, security, and compliance.
- Lead initiatives in knowledge sharing, documentation, and cross-training within BI teams.
- Support strategic planning and internal upskilling programs to strengthen BI adoption and usage.
REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVE
- Bachelor's degree in information systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics, or equivalent professional experience.
- 5+ years of professional BI development experience with enterprise BI platforms (Power BI, Tableau, SIGMA, or equivalent).
- Advanced proficiency in SQL for performance-tuned querying, transformation logic, and data manipulation.
- Proven expertise in data modeling, dimensional modeling, and semantic layer design for enterprise BI.
- Strong background with ETL concepts, cloud data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, Azure Synapse, AWS Redshift, or GCP BigQuery), and data warehouse architectures.
- Demonstrated experience leading BI solution design, establishing governance standards, and mentoring junior team members.
- Hands-on experience with version control (Git/GitHub/Azure DevOps) and CI/CD integration for BI assets.
- Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience implementing embedded analytics and integrating BI dashboards into external-facing portals.
- Skilled with scripting languages (Python, R) for data automation and advanced analytics.
- Familiarity with Agile/DevOps practices in BI development and deployment.
- Knowledge of performance tuning for large-scale enterprise BI systems.
- Exposure AI/ML augmentation within BI or advanced analytics environments.
