POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Accountant will be a strong contributor to the dynamic reporting needs of the company and will maintain accurate financial records to enable data-driven reporting and business decisions. Flexibility is essential in this fast-paced, evolving environment. This position will require strong follow-through on delegated tasks and assignments while following established policies and procedures.
LOCATION
- Onsite in Fort Wayne, IN
- M-F 8 am to 5 pm, 1 day remote after 90 days at managers discretion
COMPENSATION
This position offers a competitive compensation package, benchmarked to regional market standards. It consists of a base salary plus the opportunity for quarterly profit sharing after one year of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support monthly financial close, including assigned journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accrual of monthly, quarterly, and annual expenses.
- Perform account analysis and reconciliation for assigned general ledger accounts, verifying accuracy of data and identifying and correcting errors.
- Support internal process improvement initiatives, as requested.
- Review activities in the accounts payable function as assigned, reviewing for proper approval and general ledger account coding.
- Research discrepancies in financial information and/or documentation (e.g., purchase orders, vendors, invoices, etc.) to ensure accuracy and adherence to procedures before processing.
- Be an added resource for the accounts payable team for questions, as documentation and accounting issues arise, and for invoice processing, as needed.
- Prepare tax form 1099 for applicable vendors.
- Perform an accounting review of employee expense reports in the expense management system.
- Perform new employee training on expense reporting, accounts payable invoice review, and approval.
- Perform new employee training on expense reporting.
- Cross-train and serve as a critical task backup, as needed.
- Perform other related duties as required or assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVE
- 1+ years of experience in an accounting-related role.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field.
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced office environment.
- Strong critical thinking skills, keen attention to detail, and highly organized.
- Strong team player with the ability to effectively interact with personnel from all aspects of the business unit.
- Ability to maintain the confidentiality of company and employee information.
- Strong analytical and time management skills.
- Strong PC skills utilizing Microsoft Office software.
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
NICE TO HAVE
- Experience in GAAP Accounting
- Familiarity with SAP and Concur
