POSITION SUMMARY
The Logistics Intern will support PTR’s Logistics team by assisting with dispatch operations, route planning, driver coordination, compliance tasks, and fleet movement visibility. This role offers hands-on experience inside a fast-moving logistics environment, working closely with coordinators, drivers, and leadership to ensure safe, accurate, and on-time fleet delivery across the U.S. This internship is ideal for students pursuing logistics, supply chain, business, or operations who want real-world experience in a high-growth company.
LOCATION, HOURS, COMPENSATION
- Onsite, Fort Worth, Texas
- Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist coordinators with daily dispatching, load assignment, and route planning.
- Monitor live truck and driver movement to support on-time delivery goals.
- Help track progress on deliveries, communicate updates, and escalate delays as needed.
- Support onboarding tasks for new drivers, including ensuring paperwork and compliance steps are completed.
- Gather, review, and validate delivery data for accuracy (OTP, mileage, DVIR compliance, load coverage, etc.).
- Assist with weekly performance dashboards and operational reporting for the logistics team.
- Update internal systems with delivery statuses, notes, and documentation.
- Assist with tracking and organizing maintenance records, inspections, and safety documents.
- Help ensure internal processes follow PTR’s standards for safety, accuracy, and regulatory compliance.
- Participate in team process-improvement discussions and offer recommendations.
- Assist in developing SOPs, training materials, and resource guides.
- Cross-Functional Coordination
- Support communication between Logistics, Fleet Operations, Sales, and Branch teams.
- Assist with resolving pickup/delivery hurdles, customer issues, and scheduling conflicts.
REQUIREMENTS
MUST HAVE
- Currently pursuing a degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or a related field.
- Strong interest in transportation, fleet management, or logistics operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and basic data analysis.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to handle fast-paced, time-sensitive work with professionalism.
- Willingness to learn and take initiative.

- Experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain management
- Familiarity with logistics software and tools
